Never ‘Nickel and Dime’ Your Builder Customers…

It does not matter if you ‘have the right’ to charge them. Unless it is a major issue, absorb it. You will not make friends with project managers by ‘papering’ their jobsite with back charges, small change orders, dry run charges, etc.
Forget about ‘being right.’ Rather, be smart and play the long game. Ask yourself “which is more valuable (long term) to my business…a few hundred bucks or making a friend?” This is a critical aspect to building relationships within construction. This is how you grow!
And BONUS: most project managers will return the favor as you will usually get similar ‘no back charge’ courtesies when you inevitably cause grief to other subcontractors in the field.
