Importance of Inspecting your Crews’ Work

Remember, inspectors and building departments have zero liability. As the contractor, you are responsible for your crews’ work, so paying for field supervision/management also reduces your corporate exposure.
Field supervision also breeds relationship-building at the jobsite level, as enhanced communication is the key to success. And to really get the most here, I always advised my field managers to alert the builder’s PM or Supers that we were onsite, inspecting our own work, and let them know if ‘all good’, or we need to come back for some reason. Again, communication is key.
If you want to offer a better installed product and yield higher margin, you must ensure you are delivering to your customer what you promised (and what the builder expects per contract) in the sales stage.
