In Construction, Persistence Wins

Trying once or twice to land an account — and then giving up — will never get your company where you want it to go. In construction, you have to be willing to play the long game.
Back in the early 2000s in South Florida, a major land developer had master-planned a brand-new city called Weston. They launched their own homebuilding arm — Arvida — and were building literally dozens of new communities at any given time...for many, many years.
I wanted in.
It took me 14 bids — yes, fourteen — before I finally got my first job with them. But once I did, that single account turned into over $2 million in revenue.
That experience taught me one of the most valuable lessons of my career:
👉 Persistence wins in construction.
👉 Most people quit right before the breakthrough.
👉 The long game always pays off.
If your goal is to grow, stay in the game longer than your competition. This type of persistence also demonstrates your staying power to prospective accounts.
